Solution

To Install an Extended Validation certificate on IPlanet 4.x, perform the following steps:

Step 1: Download your certificate and obtain the SSL Web Server with EV Intermediate CA

a) Download the SSL Web Server with EV Intermediate CA certificate: AR1384

Note: Be sure to use Vi or Notepad as word processing programs like Microsoft Wordpad may add additional characters that may render the certificate unusable.

b) Copy and paste the Intermediate CA into a text file and save as intermediate.txt

c) Download your certificate as per the instruction on the following solution: SO13187

Step2. Install the Intermediate CA certificate

1. In the Web Server Admin Server, choose the Servers Tab, and choose Manager Server link.

2. Select the appropriate server and click on Manage. Choose Security Tab and from the side panel menu on the left frame, select the "Install Certificate" option.

3. On the "Install a Server Certificate" frame, do the following:

Select the "Server Certificate Chain" radio button
Under certificate name type in "Intermediate Certificate"
Select the "Message text (with headers)" radio button.
Select (highlight) the certificate you saved as intermediate.txt and copy them onto the clipboard. Cut and paste the Intermediate CA by clicking on the button marked, Intermediate CA, above.
In the Admin server's "Message text (with headers)" frame, paste the copied information from the clipboard into the space provided. Click OK
Click add certificate on the page where the cert profile is shown

Note: There should be some processing and a statement saying that the server which utilizes this information must be shutdown and restarted. Again, don't shutdown and restart the server until the steps below are completed.
